| About | Randolph “Randy” Edward Michener died on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Lawnwood Hospital, Ft. Pierce, FL. He was the son and only child of Edward and Martha (Mumper) Michener and bonus parent Roy J. Keefer all of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by this partner of 39 years Brian Judge of Hobe Sound, Fl. They lived in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC, for many years before retirement. He grew up in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania where he attended Eisenhower Elementary School and Camp Hill High School graduating in 1967. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Philadelphia College of Art in 1971 and a Master of Fine Arts from the George Washington University in Washington, DC in 1973. Both degrees were with a Painting specialization. In 1975, he was employed by Northern Virginia Community College as Program Head of Fine Arts at their Manassas Campus. He taught Painting, Drawing and Design on that campus for the next 36 years. He retired as a Professor Emeritus in 2013. In 1990 he received a Chancellor's Commonwealth Professorship of Virginia for his work with early computer graphic imaging. Also, he was part of a traveling Fulbright Scholarship to study the Contemporary Art of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In 1991 his painting was chosen to be included in the Washington-Moscow Exchange, and he was chosen as one of the artists to travel to Moscow for the opening reception at the Tretyakov Museum in Moscow. His paintings have been in many exhibitions. He was a former President of the Foundry Gallery in Washington, DC. He is a Board Member Emeritus of the Art Association of Harrisburg, PA. When he retired he moved to his farms (Athdara) in Landisburg, PA. There will be no services in Florida or Pennsylvania. He will be interred with his parents at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA.
