| About | Paul R. Knudsen, formerly of Dillsburg, died on October 16, 2025 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle. He was 79 years old. Born in 1946 to parents Clarence and Ruth Knudsen, Paul was a 1964 graduate of Camp Hill High School. While in high school, Paul wrestled, played football and participated in track and field. He attended Lock Haven University where he continued to wrestle and graduated in 1970. Paul also was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Guam and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. He met his wife Charlotte Knudsen while at Lock Haven. Paul and Charlotte married in 1973 and had three daughters: Dawn (Matt Lusk); Paula (Kenneth Burke); and Claudia (Ryan Braymer). In his younger days, Paul was a member of The Wheelmen club. Paul rode his Penny Farthing in numerous races, parades and demonstrations. Paul was a Sunday school teacher and youth group leader for his church, Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Lewisberry, and volunteered for many years as his daughters' soccer and softball coach. Despite significant health challenges throughout his adult life, Paul had a strong work ethic and especially took satisfaction in working outdoors. Prior to retirement, Paul was employed at Pennsy Supply. For the past 18 years, Paul has been in care facilities, most recently at Sarah Todd. The family expresses their profound gratitude for the care and kindness provided by the staff at the facilities that cared for him. In addition to his wife, children and seven grandchildren (Hannah, Francis, Katie, Sue, Tristan, James and Reed), Paul is survived by his brother David Knudsen and wife Janet, of Wyomissing. He also is survived by his nieces and nephews. Paul's parents and two siblings, Donald and Karen Knudsen, preceded him in death. A private interment ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Lock Haven University Foundation or the Polar Bear Foundation, the education foundation of Northern York County School District. Paul was a life-long sports fan, especially when his daughters were playing. His family encourages all to carry on his legacy of advancing equity in sports. |
