About Alan F. "Never Better Al" Bowman, of Harrisburg, passed away on May 27, 2022, at the age of 77. He was a graduate of Camp Hill High School, in 1962 and Thiel College, in 1966. Upon graduation, he spent 2 years in the Army. He then worked 5 years for Gulf Oil before being employed by the Pennsylvania State Police for 33 years, the last 23 as the Director of the Procurement and Supply Division. He was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, a member of Hershey Country Club for over 40 years, a member of the East Shore YMCA, the West Shore Elks, and the Sonestown American Legion. He was also an avid Penn State football fan having season tickets for over 40 years. While single his whole life, he was blessed with many friends who included him in many of their dinners, parties, and sporting events for which he was extremely grateful. He enjoyed golf regardless of if it was a good or bad round. He enjoyed his many trips to Hilton Head with his golfing buddies and the annual trip to Toftrees, where everything was good except the golf. He also enjoyed his many invites to Eagles Mere, PA with his close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Luther and Eleanor Bowman, along with a brother William and nephew Jeffrey both of Hershey. He is survived by brothers Robert (Christine) of Lititz, L. Kinch (Brenda) of Duncannon, James (Vickie) of Camp Hill, sister-in-law Carole of Hershey, and several nieces and nephews. Also, surviving is his faithful house companion, Morgan the cat. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut Street in Camp Hill at 11 am on Monday, June 6, 2022. A roaming visitation will be held with his brothers, nieces and nephews beginning at 10 am prior to the service.
