Marilyn Marie Mizer, daughter of Chester Robert and Beulah Mae Buffalow Jones, was born, August 27, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. She departed this life, Friday, June 18, 2010, in her home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of fifty-five years, nine months and twenty-two days.
On January 19, 1973 in Decaturville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Donald Jack Mizer and to this union, two children were born. Together they shared the past thirty-seven years of marriage, full of memories and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her mother and a brother, David Jones.
Survivors include her husband, Don Mizer of the home; a son, Michael Mizer and wife Amanda of Camdenton, Missouri; a daughter, Melissa Perryman and husband Davey of Conway, Missouri; six grandchildren, Austin, Mikayla and Madison Mizer and Cody, Trey and Lydi Ann Perryman; her father, Chester Jones of Decaturville, Missouri; a sister, Nancy Grossenheider of Roach, Missouri; two brothers, Richard Jones and wife Alice of Camdenton, Missouri and Danny Jones and Lana of Decaturville, Missouri; a half-sister, Janet Cochran and husband Roger of Brumely, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
As a child, Marilyn’s family moved from Kansas City to the Camdenton area and she has lived in this area since. In the early part of her working life, she was a secretary for H.D. Lee in Lebanon and later worked at the movie theater in Camdenton that her uncle and dad ran.
When Consumer’s Market opened in the lake area, she started working there. She continued to work there until they closed.
She went on to establish Bear Country Market in Conway.
She later owned and operated a daycare with her daughter and at the time of her passing was doing the book work for her husband’s business.
Marilyn made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Diggins Apostolic Church near Seymour, Missouri.
Don and Marilyn spent many years square dancing. They were members of several local square dance clubs and travel throughout the U.S, Ireland and England dancing.
They also enjoyed taking road trips and finding “treasures” at flea markets and antique shops. Marilyn loved children, especially her grandchildren. She was most happy, spending time with her family and friends.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9-11a.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to a fund established to assist the family and left at the funeral home.
