Marine Corps, 4 Years

Spent 4 yrs in the Marine Corps, 17 Mos of which was spent in Viet Nam during the "conflict" which was not a war. ?? My main job was as a crew chief on an amphibian armored personell carrier/beach assault vehicle. Six months of my first visit to Nam I was part of an experimental program which integrated a platoon {12 Marines and 1 Navy Medical Corpsman} with a company of Vietnamese soldiers. We lived and worked with them 24/7, training them in the use of weapons and combat tactics. No classroom stuff there, purely on the job training. The experiment was successful and the program was expanded all over the country.
