Air Force, 4 Years
I enlisted 7 April 1953 and completed Basic Training at Lackland AFB, TX. After pre-language (Russian) school at USAFSS HQ, Kelly AFB, TX, I completed the 6-month Russian language course at the Army Language School, Presidio of Monterey, Monterey, CA. From 1 December 1954 to 3 March 1957 I served as a Russian language specialist in special intelligence in Japan. Twenty seven months were served at Detachment 3, First Radio Squadron Mobile, on an island west of Hokkaido, Japan. I went over on a troop ship in heavy seas and returned on a chartered Pan-Am airplane.

Our Callaway High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Callaway High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
