Chuck Cary

Chuck Cary

Class of 1978

Chuck Cary was an all around athelete who was successful in both Football and Basketball. However in was on the Baseball field where Chuck has his greatest success. A three-time 1st Team All EBAL Baseball selection, Chuck excelled both in the Outfield and on the mound. With a career batting average over .400 and similar numbers on the mound, Chuck earned a full ride scholarship to play baseball at UC Berkeley.

As a pitcher for the Golden Bears, Chuck was part of the 1980 squad that made it to the semi-finals of the NCAA College Baseball World Series. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 7th round of the 1981 Amatuer Baseball Draft.

Over a 12 year professional career, Chuck pitched for the Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankess, Tokoyo Giants and ended his career with the Chicago White Sox. On two different occasions in 1989, Chuck struck out 10 batters in a game while starting for the New York Yankees. After a career during which he suffered numerous injuries, Chuck retired from major league baseball in 1993.

After his career was over, Chuck spent five years as the Executive Director for Playground Destination Properties, and today is the President/CEO of Sea Sotheby's International Realty in Florida.
