I attended the Calexico High School Football Centennial event on Friday, Sept 11, 2015–put together by alumni organizers. There I sat talking to David Zuniga, (who was also representing his older brother John at the event); and we were sharing great memories we had during our childhood time. We were remembering his brother–class of ’72 classmate, John Zuniga. A very dear friend & genuine family who lived & still do around the corner of my childhood home in Calexico. I can’t express how many times we spent playing together brothers & sisters combined and brought out joy to the neighborhood in the late 1950s & early 1960s. It’s been 2 years of John’s passing, “When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure?”– Unknown. We miss you John (Tato) & you are now at peace.
