Following his high school graduation, Reberger attended the University of Idaho, where he played college baseball for the Idaho Vandals. His team won the inaugural Big Sky title in 1964 and again in 1966, even making it to the NCAA playoffs for the first time. They had an excellent season scoring 34–9 (.791).

Although he went undrafted in the 1966 MLB draft, Reberger was signed as a free agent by the Chicago Cubs. His career saw him playing for Single-A Lodi Crushers, Double-A Dallas–Fort Worth Spurs, and Triple-A Tacoma Cubs in the years that followed.
