Gena attended Ona Jr. High & graduated from Milton High School in 1989. She attended Marshall University, joining the Delta Z's sorority & graduated with an Associate's degree in Applied Science. She married Eric Pertee from Barboursville in 1993. Their marriage lated 10 years. She returned to school to study Nursing. She re-married Kevin McCarty. They had one son, Jax McCarty & he was the ABSOLUTE JOY of her life. She acquired heart problem requiring multiple open heart surgeries at U.K & the Cleveland Clinic. She eventually succumbed to her heart issues & died Apríl 16 2013. She will be forever watching over Jax. Her parents & sister Kim (MHS class of '84) will miss her more than words can say. RIP Gena ??
