About Me | I grew-up at China Lake, graduated from Burroughs HS, and was going to Bakersfield College, WHEN, I ran into some distractions, and joined the Army in the spring of 69. Within the first year, I was jumping out of airplanes with the 82nd Airborne,,, nothing like flying out of a C141 going 200 MPH @1200 feet. THEN,,, I jumped over to SE Asia, to operate heavy equipment, and exchanged bullets with the guys in the black pajamas. THEN,,,I jumped over to Germany to bulldoze a rifle range and consumed way to many Bavarian hop flavored beverages, and chased Fralines. THEN,,,Got back in the spring of 72, probably should have went to AA, but I had my sights set on going to Cal Poly, WHEN,,, personnel called and entertained me with a Vietnam Veterans Readjustment program. Back to where I grew up. THEN, I got myself into an 3 year accelerated journeyman program,,, x-raying, shaking and baking, and static-firing rocket motors, and blowing up warheads,,, and I exceeded academic requirements a bit, by getting 2, almost 3 degrees from Cerro Coso. PARRALLEL with these activities, I got a life with a wife, three kids,,,AND still had time to enjoyed my passions, which included dirt bikes, and water skiing, both liquid and frozen. Back to the career, THEN sometime after I completed the program, I went to the old 3 inch line, to fire 25MM guns. I became chief firing officer and data collector as they were running out of money. THEN,,,I went to Mike Lab to convert obsolete AIM 9C Sidewinders to SIDEARMs, that’s making Air Intercept Missiles into Anti Radiation Missiles, plugged them into F4s, setup targets, and built a flight-test monitoring van. THEN,,,I got a call from the Ranges to work on RADARs, Radio Detection and Ranging, and I became the site chief at Baker Radar. THEN,,, I hired on at AV8 in the fall of 90, and spent the better half of my career, down in the integration lab, and became the AV8B Laboratory Manager. Forty years and eight mont...(read more) |
