I first met Thorny in my senior year. I was leaving the main BHS building on the north side and saw a group of guys standing together emitting a lot of laughter. I knew one of the guys (George Sanz) so I walked over to see what was so funny. It turned out to be George and 3 or 4 other seniors who were all kidding Thornton Bill about having 2 first names. I’m sure he’d heard that comment 100’s of times, but he laughed right along with everyone else. That was my introduction to Thornton Bill. As I got to know him better, I concluded that there was no one else at BHS that enjoyed life more than Thorny. He always had a smile on his face and usually a laugh after he told one of his jokes. But he was also a very bright student who worked hard to earn his grades. Thorny left us in 2014 and we’ll all miss him. Bob DeGrilla
