Alumni Stories
Tim Mason
Class of 1992
Tim Mason was a basketball player like no other. His scoring record remained unbroken for nearly 20 years! His academic performance in the classroom was an inspiration to others. All of these achievements earned him a full scholarship to college where he majored in education.
Tim went on to become a role model in the teaching profession and was often in the position to lead student teachers into becoming an educator. He remained involved in basketball throughout the 12 years he has been in education, by coaching boys highschool, middle school, girls highschool and youth leagues. During this time, he married his wife Amanda and had two children, with whom he spends all of his free time. Family is at the top of his list.
Tim's leadership and performance in the classroom has not gone unnoticed once again as he was promoted from teacher to Dean of Students at his current school. He now works with at-risk students to encourage their success in school. He is a mentor, principal, guidance couselor and friend to a few hundred special students daily. The toughest teen's look up to him. If they see him on the street they stop, shake hands and thank him for what he does in their lives. They show respect to him when they don't show it to anyone else in their lives. Currently he is working on his master's degree in administration. I'm sure that this will lead to even more wonderful citizenship in the future.
Tim's parents still live in Mt. Washington, in the same house in which he as raised. He visits a few times a year, as his schedule allows and is always so glad to be back. One place he always drives by and visits is Bullit East, and his old basketball coach. His memories of Bullit East are strong, positive and true to his heart. Thank you for the opportunity to express these thoughts about Tim Mason. He is deserving of recognition and honor as Bullit East was instrumental in his upbringing and success in life.
