| About Me | I was born and raised in Buckhannon and have been an Upshur County resident my entire life, except for the time that my husband was in the Marine Corps. I married Mike Moore (Class of 1971) in 1972 and together we have two daughters, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. We also have two fur babies, Roscoe and Bruno who keep us busy running to and from the store for snacks. :) Life has taught me that there are a lot of important things in this world, but when it comes right down to it, faith in God and love of family is truly all there is, and of course we can't get by without our loyal trusted friends. I have also learned that while we can have many acquaintances in life, if we can count our true friends on one hand, we're truly blessed. I have worked at several different locations, perhaps the most interesting of which was my time at the USPFO for West Virginia, located in Buckhannon. I served in many areas while employed there, but it was during my time as a Payroll Technician that I was given the unique opportunity to travel to Alaska and the Virgin Islands to assist with work-related issues. To get to know their people and experience the diversity of both locations is a memory I will never forget. I began my ministry in 2002 as a United Methodist Lay Speaker and often spoke in churches throughout the Buckhannon area. From 2002 to 2007 I traveled throughout West Virginia and neighboring states singing and speaking for Women's Groups, Nursing Homes and Rehabilitation Facilities. I completed my ministerial training in 2007 and became a Non-Denominational Minister, serving part-time until I retired from the USPFO in 2011 I have a sincere passion for love and marriage which prompted me to become a Professional Wedding Officiant in 2008. I truly enjoy working with couples, getting to know them during the wedding process and am especially blessed when given the opportunity to maintain relationship with them afterwards, often officiating christening ceremonies for their children. I custom-write all of my own ceremonies, they are never "canned" or "off-the-shelf" and each one is uniquely memorable in its own way. Perhaps the highlight of my ministry was when I traveled to Israel with Dee Valdez (Class of 1970) and her son Paul. We made some wonderful memories and to walk the grounds that Jesus walked, see the things that Jesus saw was beyond amazing! It all seems like a wonderful dream now, but I often relive the moments by looking at the many pictures we took along the way. I have lived a full life, have a beautiful family and wouldn't trade any of my experiences for the world. There have been good times, there have been bad, and I have had my share of struggles. Through it all though, it has been a learning experience made of moments that have made me who I am today. The gift of life itself is a precious gift and I do my best to make the best of each and every moment I am given. I like to believe that the best years of my life are still in front of me and that I will still be around to see my great grandchildren enter into their adulthood. I am comfortable in my own skin and have an inner peace that I pray radiates from the inside out. My goal in life is to let Christ's love flow through me to others and my ultimate achievement, that I can truly make a difference in the life of others. Life is a journey, not a destination and I am blessed that God has given me my family and some truly wonderful friends along the way. I treasure my high school memories, each and every one of my teachers and classmates and I am looking forward to our next reunion. Take car...(read more) |
