On October 8, 2018, our beloved mother, sister and grandmother entered into Glory at her home. God said come home my child, no more pain no more suffering. I welcome you into my bosom. Tammie G. Carter-Gilchrist was born December 31, 1964 to the late Cornelious Carter, Jr. and Clara Mae Vann-Carter in Newport News, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelious and Clara Carter; and her brother, Henry L. Vann. Tammie joined the body of Christ at an early age. Growing up she loved singing in the choir, going to Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Tammie loved to cook just like her father and mother and entertain family and friends. She was educated in the York County School System where she graduated in 1983. She attended ECPI where she received her certificate. She has
worked for several companies but her favorite was NCO where she received several awards while employed with them.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories and kindness her husband, Byron Gilchrist, Jamaica; 2 sons, Charles E. Zollicoffer II and Derron Gilchrist of the home; one brother, Jerry F. Vann (Barbara), Upper Marlboro, MD; one sister, Barbara A. Bryant (special friend Jerry), Duncan, SC; one grandson, Charles Zollicoffer III, Newport News, VA; one uncle, Robert H. Carter (Vernell) of Williamsburg, VA. She had several cousins she was fond of especially Gloria Ann Brown, Newport News, VA and Brenda Kinsey of Flushing, NY. She also leaves to cherish her wonderful memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
