Darold Knowles
Class of 1959
Darold was a professional baseball player for 15 years as a left handed relief pitcher. He played from 1965 through 1979. He played for Baltimore (1), Philadelphia (1), Washington Senators (4.5), Oakland (3.5), Chicago Cubs (2), Texas (1), Montreal (1) and St. Louis (1). He had a lifetime ERA of 3.11 in 773 games with 143 saves. He set a World Series record in 1973 when Oakland played the New York Mets. He appeared in all 7 games. This record can only be tied, not broken. He was an All Star relief pitcher in 1969.
