| About | Craig graduated from Brownsburg High School, Brownsburg, Indiana on May 22, 1968. He received a football scholarship to Indiana University where he attended college classes from August, 1968 through May, 1969. Craig played 4 years of high school football, basketball teams on the Freshman (1964-1965), 2 years on Reserves (1965-1967) and Varsity (1967-1968) seasons. He threw the shotput on the track and field teams during his High School years. He was named to the 1968 Indianapolis Regional Basketball Tournament's All-Tournament team. Craig lead the Bulldogs in total game points even though he was a substute player as the team's smaller center and he played less than 3 quarters of game clock time. A rare feat to be selected from a losing team as a bench player. Craig was killed in a two car automobile collision at 1:40am. He lost control of his vehicle after colliding into Leo P. Hamlton's automobile. Then, Craig crashed into a utility pole along S. R. 267 near Plainfield, Indiana. There were no other deaths as Mr. Hamilton was able to leave the scene on his own accord. Craig's female companion, Karen Collins had only minor injuries. She was treated at the Hendricks County Hospital, Danville, Indiana and released. Craig's surviving relatives were his parents Harold R. and Mary Allene Bateman Miller, brothers, Larry and Dean Miller and Craig's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Bateman. Craig was born in Miami, Indiana (age 4 months, April 25, 1950 Indiana census). |
