About	David Ray Downing from Pittsboro, Indiana, was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 1, 1953. A son of Donald Lee and Barbara Joyce Jay Downing. He died March 31, 1997 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. He married Rebecca J. Barton, born October 9, 1950. They had 2 daughters, Angela J. Spencer and Courtney Downing, all from Pittsboro, Indiana. They survived him as did his parents and a brother, Dwayne Downing residing in Lebanon, Indiana, and his sister, Diana Downing from Brownsburg, Indiana. David became Brownsburg High School's Bulldogs' varsity basketball teams all-time leading scorer with 1,368 total high school points and rebounder. He surpassed Tom Brunton, 1958 graduate with 1,091 points and 1959 graduate, Frank Girt's 1,040 points, both were the 2 previous Brownsburg High School's career leading scorers. A true champion, he led the Bulldogs to more season victories than Brownsburg High School's basketball teams previously won. Dave attended University of Mississippi with a full basketball scholarship where he played college basketball. He was a Union Committeeman for Allison's Transmission for 22 years as a member of UAW Local 933. Services were held at Mathews Mortuary, Brownsburg, Indiana. He lies in state in the Brownsburg Cemetery. Rest in Peace.
