About Linda Jean (Mitchell) Jarrett, age 76, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2025 she endured a difficult and long battle against cancer. She was born December 24, 1948 by her parents, Glen and Mildred (Maudie) Mitchell. Linda's siblings were Carolyn Sams, Wanda Mitchell, Janice Blankenship, Pam Aders, Bob, Denny, and SPC4 Michael Mitchell, a 1966 Brownsburg High School graduate (whom died in the Vietnam War and awarded the Purple Heart and other valiant service medals). All her family members preceded her death. She married Jerry Lee Jarrett in 1979, who preceded her in death, too.

Linda loved to dance and perform her many floor routines during Brownsburg's Junior High and High School soc-hops at either the College Avenue Gym (in the movie Hoosiers) or Brownsburg High School's 4,087 seat gymnasium (now a storage facility for the school district) at 310 Stadium Drive. Linda brought her rock-n-roll 45 records and 33 1/3 albums and a player to school on home game days.

Weekly on Wednesdays, She and Carla would invite or drag any birthday boys from the College Avenue grandstand to dance with Linda, Carla and alternating junior high girls as 3 or 4 of the latest slow dance hit songs were played. It was exhilerating to the school's introvert or extrovert guys alike. Linda made sure that soc-hops were an important part of the after-sports entertainment inside either of these 2 gymnasiums. This memorial's author is one of the many boys whom suddenly became Linda and Carla's 8th grade dance partners at the College Avenue Gym.

As a Freshman, she was selected and performed as a Freshman boys basketball team's cheerleader. Linda graduated from Brownsburg High School on May 26,1967. After marriage to Jerry Jarrett, she lived in various Indianapolis locations.

Linda retired after 33 years as an Indiana School for the Blind's Residential Service Supervisor. Also, she worked part-time providing needed physical and mental care to the infirmed and elderly.

Linda's quality creative design talents for her home's interior and landscape were exceptional. She was a member of a Decorating Club for many years. She especially enjoyed auctions, estate sales and maintaining her Room Swap booth.

Her friends will miss her sweet smile. Celebrate her, either by playing a CD, record or tape or search for it on the internet and listen to the enjoyable song titled "Linda" sung by 1960's Jan and Dean duet.
