About | Phillip David "Dave" Meadows, 75, Dave was born in Huntington, West Virginia, but was mostly raised in Brownsburg, Hendricks County, Indiana's Sunny Knoll Subdivision into young adulthood. Dave attended St. Malachy through the 8th grade and graduated from Brownsburg High School, Brownsburg, Indiana on May 22, 1968. Dave enjoyed guitar music and was self-taught to play it and other string instruments. He enjoyed performing solo for one or more fans to hear. Sometimes, he and a Brownsburg teenage friend briefly practiced rock-n-roll music together in his bedroom. His friend sang the tunes while Dave picked his guitar's strings. He joined the US Navy in 1969. Afterwards, he became a prominent musician. He was a lead guitarist for Country and Western Singers like the Wright Brothers, Loretta Lynn, Michael White, Johnny Paycheck, Shenandoah, but mostly for Tanya Tucker. He enjoyed many musical friendships and lifelong friends. He married Tracy and they had 2 sons, Seth and Zachary Meadows, 3 grandsons. and nephews Caleb and Josh Edwards. Seth predeceased Dave, Tracy and family. During his professional music career, he and family lived in the countryside near Lebanon, Tennessee. On their small ranch, they owned and raised dogs, cats, geese, ducks and other barnyard animals. Dave's favorite animal was prized donkeys. Dave performed on stage at the Grand Ole Opry's Ryman Auditorium. Dave traveled the country while Tanya Tucker and her other band members performed at many arenas. He performed on the weekly televised series Opryland's The Nashville Network, too. He incurred a small, metastatic carcinoma in his lung, but had received prompt care. While Dave was hospitalized and taking medical treatments, it quickly spread anyway. On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, his sisters Becky and Pam sang a favored family song with him "Country Roads" whose theme is about coming from West Virginia, their birthplace. He sang his last notes on the 20th of February 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Dave was preceded in death by his parent's Cecilia and Edward Meadows, his son Seth David Meadows and his niece Rachel Jessica Linton. He is survived by his wife Tracy, his son Zach, sisters Pam and Becky, and grandchildren Isaac, Lucas, and Logan. |
