Each week, at Brownsburg's Junior High School's College Avenue Gym, on Wednesdays, Carla and Linda Mitchell would invite or drag any birthday boys from the College Avenue grandstand to dance with Carla then Linda and one after another alternating junior high girls whie 3 or 4 of the latest slow dance hit songs were played by Linda. It was exhilerating to the school's introvert or extrovert guys alike. This memorial's author is one of the many boys whom suddenly became Carla's 8th grade dance partner at the College Avenue Gym (in the movie, Hoosiers).
Carla was an enthusiastic baton twirler and a drill team member for 3 academic years (1963-1967) at Brownsburg High School, Indiana. She was chosen as the 1966-1967 Brownsburg High School Drill Team Captain. She attended Brown Township Elementary School through the 6th grade, College Avenue Junior High School 7th and 8th grades and graduated from Brownsburg High School in May, 1967. Carla was an excellent dancer and had a friendly personality. She sparkled.
