Was selected to drive for the Inauguration of President Ronald Reagan (1980), received Humanitarian Service Medal for work during the recovery operation of Air Florida Flight 90 when it crashed into the Potomac River in 1982. Honorably medically discharged for injuries sustained on active duty.

Major Mathew E. Schram, 36, was killed May 26, 2003, near the town of Hadithah, about 120 miles north of Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a result of direct enemy fire. He gave the "last full measure," and we salut him.
