CDR Michael Genevro Class of 1978
Navy, 20+ Years I was recruited by ADC Joseph Massaro of Brockway, which inspired me to sign up in Navy Aviation. I had joined the Navy in August 1983 and attended boot camp in January of 1984 at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL as an Airman. Was assigned to AZ "A" School in Meridian MS and was stationed with VAW-125 "Tiger Tails" at NAS Norfolk, VA. Our squadron was deployed aboard USS Saratoga aircraft carrier for the next three years. On March 23, 1986, we crossed Kaddafi's "Line of Death" and our battle group had a brief confrontation to show Kaddafi who was boss as we destroyed his battle group. In August of 1988, I was commission as a 1525 Reserve Maintenance Officer. I was assigned to many reserve units throughout my career and travel to many locations throughout the world and US. The Navy has been a big part of my life and very proud that I could be a part of our great military history. I retired as a Commander from the Navy on January 1, 2007 after serving 23 years of service. I feel very blessed to live in this great country of ours and that I had the opportunity to serve my country.
