About Me | 'life's full of changes... play em! Internationally acclaimed Jazz artist, Eddy Curtis (vocals, trumpet, flugelhorn, french horn), has performed professionally around the world for more three decades. Learning piano since the age of four, his roots in Jazz music began when he started playing trumpet and french horn at the age of 11. His high school Jazz band received top honors in participating in the Orange Coast College Jazz band competition for two years in a row. At 17 years old, Eddy decided to pursue music full time and entered the Armed Forces School of Music. During his tenure he studied Music theory, composition and arranging, conducting, and Jazz improvisation, where he earned a BS in Jazz performance accredited from the Berklee School of Music. Eddy spent 12 of his 20 year service career touring Europe and Asia, performing in more than 300 engagements per year. Curtis has studied under and performed with Jazz greats such as Bobby Burgess, Al Porcino, Mel Lewis, Johnny Griffin, Sonny Stitt, Clark Terry, and many others. Eddy also lived in Louisiana, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia, where he toured the regions with Jazz orchestras and smaller ensembles. Eddy and his family resides in West Michigan where you will still find him performing on a regular basis. He has earned and enjoys wide recognition from his fans and artists from all around the world. Many say Eddy is the ultimate entertainer and crowd pleaser. He's very hard working, charismatic, and is very well known for his beautiful melodical lines with elegant and romantic phrasing. Eddy is a well seasoned artist, leading his audience on a wonderful adventure and delivers with cool melodic sophistication through his voice and his horn. ______________________________________________________________ From Eddy: I have been involved with music as far back as I can possibly remember to the age of four, studying the classics on piano with my grandfather. I am blessed and very fortunate to be performing almost four fabulous decades and still going strong! I have a deep love affair with my family, friends, and those who have supported me and continue to do so. To have lived all around the world and spending more than 12 years in Europe and Asia performing music concerts, festivals, recordings, special events, casuals, and being on worldwide tours has taught me well about how very much we really all have in common, how precious life is, and just how awesome our big blue marble really is! The arts are indeed a universal language. Due to my very talented friends, fans, and family, I continue to have a great passion for the arts and remain a steadfast active supporter for keeping arts alive and well in our schools. As I continue in my journey in creating great music and written word. I remain open to be inspired by others who really understan...(read more) |
