| About Me | Very very happily married, living at my 84 year-old mother's house (caring for her and my 41 year old brother Terry, but don't tell my mother that, she thinks she's the one doing the "caring for"). Have a great son, Matt, who's 27, lives with friends two towns away, and works at the Apple Computer store in the mall there. Teaches people how to use their computers. Just got back from Apple Corporate in Cupertino, CA from a week of additional training. Loves his job. Plays guitar(s). Played the tuba in high school. Still does, to some extent - bought one on EBay. Have had MS since 1992, am doing very well. Just a slight drag of the right leg, get tired easily. Have had some episodes - not many - where I've had to go on steroids - you should take a look at THOSE pictures - not a pretty sight - but not too many times, and prednisone is a wonderful drug, and drives away the double vision and the numbness pretty quickly. They came up with some wonderful drugs for MS just around the time I was diagnosed, and they do work wonders for me. Too bad they're injections. My sweetheart of a husband takes care of most of that - the last drug I was on was intramuscular with these HUGE needles (at least three inches long, I swear - well, maybe only two inches) which he had to jab me in the butt with every week. This from a guy that used to faint - seriously, I mean that - at the sight of needles and blood. It's been decided by my mother that Mike and I are going to care for Terry when she's gone - he's not going to be "put away", as she calls it. They don't do that any more, but don't try and tell her that, because she knows all. Oh, yeah - have another brother Sean who's married and lives in southern California - he makes it home once every several years. Much too busy to help. Is able to criticize when he does show up, though - only to the neighbors. He should try living with someone who continually reminds you that "it's still my house" and refuses to change anything from the way it was back in 1952. Who needs updated electrical outlets? "WE never had anything plugged in in the bathroom. I don't know what you need that for." "What do you need an 'answering service (machine) for?" Then there's the "If you grew up during the depression like I did, you wouldn't throw anything out, either." We've taken at least 70 big garbage bags to the dump of unimaginable stuff when she wasn't looking already, and you really can't even tell. We could really use a big dumpster. Oh, well. I'm sure this story has been heard around the world in many families. But I have my angel of a husband Mike. Without him, I don't know what I'd do. 31 years and counting - some of the people I work with think we're strange - they don't know anyone that's been married that long.
