Cabot was a classmate and friend from 2nd grade through high school. As kids we read superhero comics together. One year we trick or treated and each filled a pillowcase that lasted until Easter. He introduced me to peanut butter and banana sandwiches, a treat I still enjoy that always reminds me of him. Cabot was a whiz at math, chess, and so many things. Always one for a challenge, seated during class he liked to balance on the hind legs of his chair. This didn't always end well. But he got better and better at minimizing the crash. He easily rope climbed to the ceiling of the gym, something that probably wouldn't be allowed today. He was an outstanding varsity wrestler, winning three state titles while moving up in weight class each year. All you needed to say was his first name -- Cabot -- and everyone knew who that was. Cabot Charles Christianson. An A student whose name was all C's. Casual, calm, capable, cheerful, clever, charming, classy, caring, charitable, candid, careful, centered, confident, cerebral, clear, courageous. In short, chivalrous. At c, the speed of light.
