About Me	“If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's fantasies of me and eaten alive.” -Audre Lorde "And though she be but little, she is fierce." -William Shakespeare I describe myself as a humanitarian. I see the world as it is and work towards creating the world as it should be. I never just accept the current reality as concrete; it is everchanging and evolving. You either work to control that change or you're just being controlled by those who dare to do the former. I come from small-town Bridgeton, NJ and am journeying through life trying to achieve my American dream while helping others do the same. I'm a 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland, and a lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. After graduation, I moved to New Orleans, LA to teach as part of the Teach For America program. Recently, I relocated to Washington, DC and teach 3rd grade literacy at a turnaround DC Public School. I love live music, dancing, and being a community advocate. Catch me snapping to a poet at open mic night, two-stepping to the sounds of neosoul, at a local political rally, teaching my kiddies, or conversing about social issues. I consider myself a lady revolutionary: We are not born smart. We get smart.
