About Me | i have often been described as extremely fast paced and just as feisty. i guess i just don't put up with much bullshit and i will tell you how it is and i will fight as hard as i have to and as long as i have to to get what i want...just ask my son. he is 7 and mild to moderate autism...i was told he was one of the 30% of autistic children that would never talk...uh uh...not acceptable...what was autism anyway???? i didn't want my son to have any disorder but i couldn't ignore it either or i would be cheating him out of every chance he had to have a normal life...whatever normal is....so i went to work...research, more research...pastors, ministers, prayers, tears, doctors, more doctors, DAN doctor, chelation therapy, GFCF diet, blood work, therapy, more therapy, more prayers, chiropractor, from lincoln to omaha to lenexa kansas to shawnee mission kansas to oletha kansas, bankruptsy because of the medical bills....and here comes my son running to me and giving me a big hug, "i love you mommy!!" every last cent, every last tear, every last sleepless night spent worrying if my son will be ok in school, in life, tomorrow,...every last prayer is so worth it...it is priceless...and i wouldn't have it any other way...and all i have to say to the person that told me that my son would never talk....dont ever tell me what my son will and wont do...he talks in sentences, even short reciprocal conversations...if you give him a choice he will tell you which one...he says how he feels...it is awesome to hear him talk tayler is jay's 5 year old sister. she is a tremendous help for jay...she is always talking to him and pushing him to talk back...she is also his little mother...she is also a lot like me...she will tell you how it is and she doesn't back down easily...i am proud of her and very thankful for all her help with jay!!! she is totally girl...everything is pink and she loves thomas the tank engine and playing mommy to her stuffed toys and even takes care of the dog at times...she catches on quick to things and is already starting to read. she will attend kindergarten next year...i can't wait to see what she will do in kindergarten...i just know she is going to be awesome!!! she is in dance class...and she loves it!!! she is so cute in her dance costume and she loves to practice the dances for us!!! she has performed once and will again in a couple weeks...i can't wait for her recital in a few months!!! i have met so many awesome people in the world of autism...there is so much support and i am so greatful!!! but i can't forget janniee!!! she does daycare for me on occasion and she caught jay's autism...if not for her i don't know where jay would be today...and if not for jenice...we would just be completely lost...God brought them into our lives and they are definitely angels!!! thank you to everyone who is in our lives, the drs, therapists, frien...(read more) |
