| About Me | I graduated from Slippery Rock University with a B.S. in library science and elementary education. I was an officer in my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. The members of Kappa Delta Pi, the honorary education fraternity, voted me the outstanding senior. My Master's Degree is from UCF. After I graduated from college, I moved to Florida. I have been a sixth grade teacher or a library media specialist in various Florida high schools, elementary and middle schools. I have had professional articles published, spoken at state conventions and workshops, and won several educational awards and grants, including Florida's Master Teacher Award. I was elected 2001-2002 Teacher of the Year by the teachers at my high school--a school of 3,100 students. In 2002, I earned the National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) title. Only 4% of the 13,000 teachers in my school district are NBCTs. In March, 2009 I was Teacher of the Month. I retired in December, 2009. My favorite blessings are my many friends. I met several of them over thirty years ago. My loving family members live in the Pittsburgh suburbs and California . For exercise, I work out with a personal trainer twice a week. I have done so for the past eight years. I go to Jazzercize classes for cardio and stretching. I have snow skiied in most of the resorts west of the Mississippi once or twice.I have enjoyed hiking vacations in nine of the US National Parks. At various times in my life, I have been a member of the opera, ballet, art museum and foreign film support groups. I have visited major art museums throughout the United States and in twenty-three foreign countries. In 1987 I divorced. I have no children. I've had dogs in the past and currently have one cat.
