| About Me | I am Professor Emeritus of Music at The University of Texas at Tyler. My teaching career began in Granger, Texas as the school Band Director. That was a wonderful year working with some of the best kids I have been around. I was Drafted at the end of the year and entered the U. S. Army. I served in Europe with the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra and Soldiers Show Company and the 7th Army Band. Up on Discharge I returned to Texas, went to Aspen, Colo. to the Music Festival (for the 3rd time), played with the Orchestra there, and worked. I returned to Texas when school started and became Band Director at San Jacito Jr. Hi. in Midland. I loved Midland. If our son had NOT been allergic to everything in West Texas, I could have stayed there for a looooooooooooong time. After one year I was offered a position as an assistant Band Director at Brazosport High School, Freeport, Tx. This was great because my wife, Frances, and I both graduated from that school and we were both in the band there. We spent 7 great years there. We lived in Lake Jackson (again) and welcomed our two wonderful daughters into our family while there. After serving as Band Director at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State), and finishing graduate study at the University of Houston I came to Tyler and served 27 years as Professor of Music at the University of Texas at Tyler. I am a member of THE KAPPA SIGMA FRATERNITY. I was initiated in Feb. of 1954 into the IOTA chapter at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Tx.
