About From the San Diego Union-Tribune (July 8, 2018): Rick was born in Fort Worth, Texas. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Seoul, South Korea. Rick earned a BA degree in Political Science at San Jose State Univ. After spending time in Vermont, he moved to San Diego working as a buyer for HD Supply. After retirement in 2016, Rick rekindled his love of nature in photography producing stunningly beautiful images from his travels. He had a gentle soul and deeply loved his family and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He died of natural causes, leaving one sister, a niece, a nephew, and a grandniece. Rick is interred at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego. --- Rick's sister Diane (BHS Class of 1971) noted the following in a Facebook posting: "Rick was quite a unique character, always marching to his own drummer. He had a gentle soul and loved his family and friends very much. He loved reading, especially anything historical, and with his almost photographic memory, could recite information without skipping a beat! Rick truly was 'a walking, talking encyclopedia', and was amazing. He was looking forward to attending the reunion in 2020 [50-year class reunion]. Count on him being there in spirit."
