| About Me | Traveled around the country a bit, but finally ended up in Colorado where I was born. Worked a few odd jobs here and there. My daughter was born in 1985, and that made me decide that I better start taking things more seriously, so I went back to school. I'm a certified Detention/Corrections officer, but that wasn't enough so I worked as an armed security guard, and went onto college and got my Associates degree in Criminal Justice, and went to work for awhile as an officer in Craig, CO. The work wasn't bad, but still wasn't what I was looking for, and finally an opening happened where I was living in Montrose, CO in the printing industry. You may say printing? Yes, but not the type you maybe thinking of, I went to work for a company that printed T-Shirts. Habitat Softwear, but don't bother trying to find them, they decided to try and make more money down in Mexico back in '97 and that was the end of them a year later. I still wasn't finished. I went back into security work for awhile, but finally moved to Colorado Springs, where I went to work for Empak; which was a plastics company that made storage cases for discs large and small, and I was working Quality control and that was mainly becuase I knew Autocad, and how to use a micromiter. I know moving along. I was still looking for something I enjoyed doing which had been printing. As luck would have it there was a company in town that was looking for a parttime printer, but once they found out that I had worked for Habitat Softwear; which had been a very big force in the printing industry, what with their designs and the quality of their shirts, the company changed there minds and wanted me fulltime and wanted me to trouble shoot their company and bring it up to speed with the rest of the printing industry, and I tell you that did not make me any friends amonst the current staff, but they wanted to grow, and I knew what it would take. So, to make this already long story a little longer I started with Galapagos Studios in '98 and we continued to grow until we were able to sell off the catalog part of the business, and start new with just the custom printing and embroidery. We have grown that business into Allcustom Apparel, Dasher Hockey, and we also do the garments for the USA wrestling team, practice jerseys for the men's and women's basketball teams, and the fun part of this year was we got the contract for the Official merchandise for the Tour of Missouri. My main jobs for the company are Assistant Production Manager, purchasing for the production, screen and art department, trouble shooting designs on the press, fixing and doing maintenance on the different equipment we use, and of c...(read more) |
