About Me	After graduating, I went to Dutch Harbor, Alaska where Chris Mendoza and I worked offloading crab boats. That experience convinced me there had to be an easier way to make a living. I returned to Boise, where Terry Currie suggested that we enroll at BSU. Since I had enjoyed watching Jacque Cousteau, Jane Goodall and national geographic specials on PBS, I pursued a degree in Biology and ultimately became obsessed with marine invertebrates. So, it was off to Western Washington University to study sea anemones and get an MS. Unfortunately, there weren't a lot of jobs where an expertise in sea anemone biology is all that important so I began what was initially adjunct but what has become full-time teaching at community colleges and universities. Teaching, particularly as an adjunct, doesn't always pay a lot, so I've done a variety of other things to pay the bills along the way including commercial fishing, oyster farming, and working in industrial and research labs. My current teaching load includes Human Anatomy and as a result I became interested in human evolution. Channeling Jane Goodall, I am currently pursuing a PhD in Anthropology at the University of Utah. I just started a sabbatical leave and hope to make significant progress so that I can finish college before I retire.
