About Me	Check out our daughter's facebook site, "Impressions of Nature." She makes some awesome yard art (bird baths, etc.). HERB: Born in a nursing home in Ontario, OR 2/3/45 (hospital was too full); lived on a livestock ranch at Jamieson, OR. My dad was a rancher & rodeo cowboy in my younger years. He started logging at Ironside, OR, when I was 10, then moved to Burns area, Baker, LaGrande (all in Oregon), and Boise, ID. Moved to Ontario, OR, in 1962, to farm and graduated from Ontario High School in 1963. Went to Oregon Tech (now OIT) in 1963-64, stayed home 1964-65 to farm & milk cows while Dad was recovering from a farm accident (lost an arm in a corn chopper), then resumed Civil Enginering classes at OTI 1965-67 (Assoc Degrees in Bridge Design, Highway Design & Surveying). Began working for Oregon DOT in summer of 1966 in the Ontario Engineering Office, and worked full-time with ODOT from 1967 to 1995, working in Pendleton, LaGrande, Pendleton, LaGrande and Ontario. Went to work for David Evans & Assoc (Consulting Engineering firm in Salem, OR) in 1996, and retired Feb. 11, 2011. Have since started my own consulting business; check out my website, www.herbshawconsulting.com . Married Joan Dewey (Ontario) in Winnemucca, NV, on 8/30/68. We have 4 children (Dan in Illinios, Sam in Colorado, Loni and Ron in Idaho); 10 grandchildren (7 girls and 3 boys) and 1 great grandson. Some of my "hobbies" have been: licensed racehorse jockey at 16; drag racer at 23 (1968 Dodge Coronet R/T, D-stock Automatic); stockcar driver & flagger at 26; Saved at age 32; Union, OR,City Councilman/Water Commissioner & Police Commssioner age 34-38; remodeling contractor at age 47. I still enjoy hunting, spending time with my wife, kids and grands, and vacationing on the Oregon Coast. JOAN: Born in Holy Rosary Hospital, Ontario, OR, 12/23/44.
