| About Me | I am an Parent/Caregiver/Child Autism Advocate. www.davidversusautism.org Nancy Sierchio is the parent of a son who has autism and uses supported typing with various communication devices however he prefers his iPad. He has been typing for 8 years and is moving toward independence. She is a personal advocate for families dealing with autism. She helps those new to the spectrum find resources to aid in their journeys. She saw a need within the autism community for a Supported Typing Strategy group where parents were able to share and support each other and created one. She has completed the 3 full training courses in the SonRise Program for parents and ran the full program for her son from home for 5 years and part time once he started school. Her family continues to use the SonRise methodology in their daily lives. She has recently full filled a personal dream by completing the Trainers Training course and is now actively coaching facilitators in getting started and troubleshooting obstacles they encounter along the way. She is extremely active in her son’s academic life and has developed a strong relationship with his new school. She is bringing her past experiences with fund raising to his school and helping to form their first Banquet Committee.
