Samantha Smith '02 Finalist in CHF Green Wedding Giveaway

Samantha Smith (2002) and Jeff Court are one of three finalists in Clay Hill Farm's Green Wedding Giveaway The yearly event provides a complete wedding package to a couple that demonstrates commitment to sustainability and the environment as well as inspiring others to explore their own shade of green. The winner is chosen based on public voting and a community giveback campaign. The main idea of the contest is to spread the message that "You don't have to sacrifice your dream to make a difference".

This year, there were over 100 entries with only 3 finalists chosen. The grand prize is a complete wedding package valued at over $40,000. The runners up also receive a slightly smaller wedding package.

Jeff and Samantha's community give-back is two parts. First, they are establishing a vegetable garden at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where Jeff is currently finishing Graduate school. This community giveback will help the school year after year. The second part of their community giveback is a TrashingTheTrash campaign. Samantha and Jeff tries to eliminate as much trash as possible. The provide tips and suggestions on how to recycle more and create less waste.
Jeff and Samantha have been together for over 9 years. After BEHS, Samantha attended Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT for Political Science. She then went on to law school at University of Massachusetts school of law, f/k/a Southern New England School of Law . Samantha is now a practicing attorney. Jeff is originally from Arundel, Maine and is currently attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute for his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.

The grand prize winner will be announced on April 8th. More information on Clay Hill Farm, the contest, and the couples campaign is available voting has already begun and ends on April 3rd at midnight.
