Remembering horseback riding with friends, especially Susie Dougan through Stilwell. We rode in Stilwell patade, through the woods in Aubrey Acres and found a log cabin, wayer moccasins in the creeks, copperheads in the Quarry and tied up our horses on the hitching post at a lical hamburger joint. I rode grom Stilwell down to Stanley whete there are now houses and businesses.
I remember 2 hour bus rifes to school that started at 6am and went past dairy farms and homes that still had out houses.

Mr. Duane Pullman was our Driver's Education yeacher who taught us all on stick shift and an old truck. There was still metal, wood and home ec classes. There was Art Appreciation class that several of us students (6), did the mural of the Kansas Flag eblrm on the wall above the old cafeteria ay Blue Valley. Office Practice was a great class to learn typing skills that have lasted a lifetime for all of us! We all started in the ORIGINAL BLUE VALLEY building in 1971. BVHS started in Stanley in 1969 but the new building pulled Stanley and Stilwell High Schools together. They used to be rivals!

In Stilwell, there used to be an okd man with one eye, Lonnie?...who had a little house next to the railway. He was fun to listen to his old Railroad storues and Stilsell while he spit in his spittoon! It ess near the Seager old house which was sn old Hitel for railroad travelers. Also, many people used to party near the rsiltoad crossing at Bains crossing. My BVHS class is still close and has helped me as well as my classmates at a mo ents notice. Great group of people and so glad I grew up in Stilwell in my Junior High and HS days. Back then, BVHS was 7-12th grade and Friday Night Lights was the real desl!
