When I attended Blount (class of 1970) the school colors were the great and richly beautiful purple and white. The school song references the purple and white so true but for some reason for the last few years someone who apparently has no vested interest in Blount's rich history and is not an alumni has added the color gold to the school colors. All one has to do is listen to the school song to know that gold is not one of the school colors and what infuriates me even more is that there are Blount alumni that are teachers on the current staff that are allowing the addition of gold as a school color. Why are they changing our rich history of purple and white? I would like to know who gave them permission to change the school colors. Did I miss the memo that gave "THEM" the authority to change the school colors by adding gold? What's next....rewriting the school song which states OUR school colors are purple and white? They have added gold to band, cheerleaders, football, track, basketball and all school uniforms. The football uniforms are barely recognizable as Blount High School. The addition of gold makes the team look like Daphne High School. It is an insult to our school's history. Next I guess they will change the school song to incorporate gold as a school color. It is Infuriating to re-write the rich Blount High School history of the beautiful purple and white. It's as if my/our (alumni) history at BHS has been rewritten by those who were not members of the mighty leopards leaving it difficult to support the NEW "BIG BLOUNT" as it is now called with its new colors of purple, gold and white as the school colors. If "THEY" can change the school colors what additional changes are in store that will rewrite our rich alumni memories and history???

MTB Homecoming
I remember, vividly, how Homecoming was such a BIG DEAL, back in the day and how the Mighty Mighty MTB Leopards Football Team would KICK BUTT! and incite fear and trembling in the hearts of their opponents. Basketball
I can remember when we were in school how we supported all athletic activities. We have a bunch of great girls and boys that plays their hearts out on the basketball court. It is high time that we came out and support a great effort of Blount High School. Just think! these kids could be doing anything in this world, but they chose to do something of greatness. Come on guys! come out and support them like we use to do back in the day.
