About Brotherhood

Not by blood but by soul

We have the bond that will hold

The test of time the years that pass

A friendship that will forever last

It doesn't take blood relation

To make a brotherhoods creation

It just takes that spark of giving

To one another in the lives we are living

That spark we had with our fellows

Was set to flame a friendship, blown by the bellows

Of trust, honor, and sacrifice

To those we kept close in our lives

When I think of you, I think of Freddy and Jeff

Of Shell, Ky, and I

Six strangers in the beginning who came together

To challenge all of our endeavors

What we accomplished in the end

Was the true meaning of, what is a friend

A friend is someone who changes you for the better

A friend is there in stormy weather

A friend is always, and is true

No matter where life takes you.

So my brother you are not forgot

And we all miss you a lot

As all do, who came to see

What all of us knew, that you would be.

A great friend and a brother

A good son to your dad and mother

When the time comes we'll see you again

Josh Dykes... Our brother, Our friend..

Here is a copy of Josh's obituary cut out from the paper many years ago. He & I were almost like brothers. We hung out a lot since we lived close together in Cary. I remember riding in the Surplus Army Jeep he had & he & I riding all over in Cary on our ATVs, killing rattlers, skinning them & drying the skins. I spent more than a few days at his house with Phyllis, Quincy and him, & he came to a few of my family's get-together, including one of my grandfather T.E.'s birthday parties at my aunt JoAnne Peche's house. He is definitely missed.
