KAREN LEE (MADDOX) FONSECA Age 68, passed away on January 15, 2021. She was the life of the party with her radiant smile and welcoming personality; and she cherished spending time with her family, especially when it involved shopping. While holding previous careers as a paralegal and later as a tutor for children with reading difficulties, her most recent job as "Mimi" to her grandchildren was far and away her favorite. For the last five years, she embraced her new role to the fullest and lived to see the smiles on her grand- children's faces. Karen is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jerel; daughter Lauren Fonseca-Fiddler (husband Kawika Fiddler); son Michael Fonseca (wife Kiley Nakamura Fonseca); and grand- children Maddox, Brooks, and Olive. She will be remembered for rapping hip-hop hits to her children's friends, pulling all-nighters playing video games, being a lover of animals, and making every Christmas and Easter extra special. Her infectious sense of humor and loving spirit are missed daily and will never be forgotten. Karen was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother, who were all laid to rest in her home state of Maryland. Private services will be held by family members.
