After completing his computer science degree at Central State University, Joseph moved to Texas. He was employed as Industrial Piping Designer & Fabricator at the time of his death. He was killed in a five-car traffic accident outside the city limits of Vidor,Texas while pursuing education to become a Journeman Pipefitter out of Local #195.
He always loved the town of Blackwell and had plans to return there when he retired. He is survived by his mother, Rayma Tripp Sanford, and his two sisters, Cynthis"Rae" Sanford Kain and Rebecca Sanford McLemore.
