Matthew 'Matt' H. Slater, 46, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at UH Elyria Medical Center. Matt was born July 19, 1974 in Elyria, raised in Wellington and graduated from Black River Vocational School.
Matt had been employed at the former Quebecor in Oberlin as a printing press operator for 17 years until the company's closing in 2009. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, four wheeling and loved to spend time with his grandchildren, the light of his life.
Survivors include his wife of eight years, Debra M. (nee Sukalac) Slater; his children, Amy Harris, Amanda Cervantes (Anthony Lo Giuercio) and Anthony Cervantes; grandsons, Alexander and Corbyn; granddaughters, Abigail and Izabella; his mother, Myrtle 'Penny' Slater; siblings, James (Faith) Slater, Brandy (Matt) Miller, Jimmy Ellis and nieces and nephews.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, James J. Slater.
