Patrick J. O'Rourke
Class of 1982
Navy, 9 Years
Service encompassed sailing around the world the hard way onboard the USS Josephus Daniels (CG-27) and the USS Texas (CGN-39). Travel to the North Atlantic and bellow the Equator. For those of you the may know, I am a Blue Nose and a Shellback sailor. I have had the privilege of visiting several countries and meeting an array of people. While on the Texas, we were assigned to the Persian Gulf during the Persian Gulf Crisis (when Iran, laid under water mines in the Gulf) and I have been back there three more times as a defense contract in support of our troops. My wife also served in the Navy as a defense department classified courier (handcuffs and briefcase stuff), however she was injured in the line of duty during Dessert Storm. This unfortunate event brought an abrupt end to both of our careers. We are doing well now some 18 years later and living in South Carolina.
