| About Me | MANUEL GUTIERREZ Biography Summery I was born in Bishop, TX, on April 9, 1951, to Jovita and Ramiro Gutierrez. I am a graduate of Bishop High School and have attended Texas A&I (Texas A&M Kingsville), and Del Mar Tech and TX AM Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, TX. and several other Military and US Government institutes of training and education. During my young years during the summer and after school, I worked on the local fields picking cotton, working the local cotton gins, drove a grain truck from the field to the grain elevators, local theater, local pool hall, local grocery store and as a custodian at the local chemical and gas plants. I entered the U. S. Air Force in 1971 after graduation from high school, and served for 8 ½ years (1971 – 1980) in the aircraft maintenance field where I earned promotion from E-1 to E-5. I served one year in Thailand, (1974 – 1975), servicing and maintaining aircraft weapons systems loaded with pay loads for missions into designated areas. I was also a member of the Air Force Reserve for six years (1988 – 1994) assigned to the C-5s cargo aircraft at Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas also providing combat support during Desert Storm. During my military assignment at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas (1975-1980), I was commissioned as a private security guard for three years. I worked as a sight guard throughout the Austin area, where I was promoted to a patrolman/supervisor at the rank of Lieutenant. I have 26 years of federal civil service which began in 1980 at the Corpus Christi Army Depot as a GS-04 Security Guard. I transferred as an Equipment Specialist a year later as a GS-05 and was promoted to GS-07 and GS 09 during the next two years. In 1988 I was promoted to GS – 11, Equipment Specialist Supervisor. Through depot realignment, in 1998, I was transferred to the Aircraft Production Control Division as a GS-11, Production Control Work leader. In 2002, I was promoted to Production Control Branch Chief GS 12, until retirement in June 03, 2006. I have attended several Air Force and Army training courses, which include Equipment Management, Leadership, Supervision, and Managerial type classes. My past affiliations included as a member of the Kingsville Parents on Patrol, which working with the local law enforcement, patrolled the Kingsville neighborhoods to help prevent crimes. I am presently a life member of the Bishop, TX. American Legion Post 0185, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2375 in Kingsville, Texas. In the VFW, I am an active member to the Veterans Honor Guard providing burial ceremonies to the fallen veterans of the local area. After retirement from the Corpus Christi Army Depot, I worked for Don Brock Distributers as a Gate Guard for the King Ranch and Kennedy Foundation Ranch.
