Ryan Jason Karp is an eminent alumnus of Beverly Hills High School based in Beverly Hills, California. Born on April 5, 1970, he hailed from Los Angeles, California. After high school, Karp showed immense promise in his baseball career and became a professional pitcher known for his involvement with the Philadelphia Phillies.

During his major league baseball career, Ryan Karp played for the Phillies in 1995 and 1997. His first major league baseball debut was on June 23, 1995. As a pitcher, he had impressive records with a win-loss record of 1–1, an earned run average of 5.29, and 20 strikeouts. His last appearance for the Philadelphia Phillies was on September 27, 1997.

Before reaching the major leagues, Karp's journey involved considerable dedication and hard work. After his time at the University of Miami, he was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 73rd round of the 1989 amateur player draft. However, he chose not to sign with them and continued his path in college baseball at the University of Miami. Later, Karp got selected in the 9th round of the 1992 amateur draft by the New York Yankees and agreed to sign. In 1993, Karp put on an phenomenal performance for three different minor league teams including the Greensboro Hornets, Prince William Cannons, and the Albany-Colonie Yankees. His records were remarkable, with 16-3 win-loss record, a 2.11 ERA, and a tally of 176 strikeouts in 173 innings.

Furthermore, he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies on February 9, 1994. After making his debut and playing for the Phillies, he dipped back into the minor leagues in 1996 and played in 15 games in 1997 for the Phillies. In November 1997, Karp was the 54th overall pick by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 1997 MLB expansion draft. Following this, he played for the Triple-A Durham Bulls in 1998, and split his 1999 season between the independent Bridgeport Bluefish, Oklahoma RedHawks, and Tulsa Drillers of the Texas Rangers organization.

After his active playing career, Karp transitioned to a corporate role and is currently serving as the Vice President of Global Tax Technology for State Street Corporation.
