Ronald Marc George, born on March 11, 1940 in Beverly Hills, California, is an esteemed American jurist and a proud alumnus of Beverly Hills High School. During his illustrious career, he held many important roles, including serving as the 27th Chief Justice of California from 1996 to 2011, after being appointed by Governor Pete Wilson.

Before ascending to the Chief Justice position, George held the role of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of California from September 1991 to May 1996, as well as an Associate Justice of the California Court of Appeal, Second District from August 1987 to September 1991.

Prior to his judicial roles, George served as a California Deputy Attorney General from 1965 to 1972, where he argued a number of cases before the United States Supreme Court, including Chimel v. California, Hill v. California, McGautha v. California, and Aikens v. California. Memorably, he was successful in defending the conviction of Sirhan Sirhan for the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy.

George's education journey included attending the International School in Geneva, Switzerland, during 1952-1953 and 1955-1956. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1957. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University in 1961 and a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School in 1964.

George was also a Judge of the Los Angeles Municipal Court, appointed by Governor Ronald Reagan, and later served on the Los Angeles County Superior Court, following his appointment by Governor Jerry Brown. Notably, as a Superior Court judge, he presided over the trial of the Hillside Strangler, Angelo Buono, during 1981-83.
