About Joseph Gritser Obituary
Joseph Gritser, 68, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. A longtime resident of Bethpage, NY, Joe was a pillar in his community for much of his life. He was born on December 16, 1956, to Frank and Patricia Gritser. Joe was an avid wrestler and football player and graduated from Bethpage High School in 1975. Joe married his high school sweetheart, Bunny, on November 13,1977. Joe spent decades working alongside his father as the Owner/Operator of Gritser’s Service Station in Lawrence, NY. In 2017, Joe took over I Love Pizza in Wantagh, NY. He spent many successful years serving the town and treated each of his customers like family. Joe took great joy in creating an environment for the neighborhood kids. Families and friends would gather there for a good slice and even better company.

Joe loved nothing more than watching the Yankees and Green Bay Packers, an evening in the casino, and enjoying oysters and clams on Long Island and in Florida with his family and friends. Joe was a devoted husband and loving father and Pop Pop. Becoming a Pop Pop to Joella and Luka was one of his greatest gifts in life.

Joe is survived by his wife, Bunny, his three children Andrea, Joey (Amanda), and Jenna (Adam), his two grandchildren, Joella and Luka, and his mother, Patricia Gritser. Joe is also survived by his sister Ann Imbesi and sisters-in-law Linda Salzillo, Dolores Zirk, Lorraine McAvoy (Kevin), and Fran Faraci (Glen) along with many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He will be forever missed by all who knew him.
Joseph Gritzer
