On occasion, I will post snapshots of what life was like back in the day to get you all in the mood. >>Signals a fact from 1991. My commentary and a link or two with an update follow. Enjoy!

Technology 1991

>>Internet is made available to unrestricted commercial use and number of computers on the net reaches 1 million

Here are some facts on computer usage today:

>>The American Galileo spacecraft makes its closest approach to 951 Gaspra, becoming the first probe to visit an asteroid

That's cool, but now we are talking about commercial spaceflight and settling Mars.

I geeked out on the Falcon Heavy launch 2 years ago: Despite what you think about Musk or how he chooses to spend his money, you have to admit it is fun to watch him play.
I totally follow the haps about Perseverance and Ingenuity:

>>Microsoft Releases MS Dos 5.0

Bwah haha. And now Gates' divorce makes news.

>>Blue Roses produced by Genetic Engineering

So we have mapped human genome, and now have CRISPR that can gene edit. Designer humans, anyone?

>>The Ice covering the Arctic has decreased by 2% in the last 10 year

I literally heard a news story about the drastic decline in sea ice today. Same issue, different decade.

>>Tropical Rainforest shrinks by 1% annually as a result of Human activities
This is still our reality and scary AF as it affects the water cycle.

>>Tim Berners-Lee introduces the web browser.
He also invented the World Wide Web. Which is crazy, because it spread like wildfire--I was on browsers not long after this.

>>Spread of Cholera reaches near epidemic proportions in Countries in Latin America

But it seems we are close to having it under control, we just need another 9 years, according to the WHO.

It would be great to hear more about what has surprised you over the past 3 decades! Tell all of us in the Tribute Video.
