I'm reprinting most of this from the class of 1982 Facebook page:
As you know, Scott was a huge part of our class as he participated in Football, Baseball, Wrestling, a Class Officer, Fighting Scots Clan, etc. etc.
Scott was a fierce competitor but did so in a gentle giant sort of way. He was a leader on the football & baseball field who wasn't much for all the Rah Rah stuff, he just played hard and led by example!
For those of you who attended our 40 year reunion in 2022, you'll remember that Scott made the drive up from his home in St. George but what you may not know is that he was very sick at the time and it was really important to him that he make a final journey back to Ben Lomond to see all of you! I know he was in a lot of pain & discomfort but I never heard him once complain or asked why me however just the opposite, he accepted his fate like a warrior! During the reunion, he gave me a $100 dollar bill and made me promise that I would make sure it went to the Evan Excell Foundation when the new gym was named in Coach's honor. I did so under Scott's name which again shows just how much Ben Lomond meant to him even is his last days.
Buddy, I'll never forget the many great times we had, the victories, the defeats and your friendship which we all enjoyed and ! I know now that you're at peace without the pain!
