In Memory of

Hard to believe it's been over ten years since Jerry passed away. Along with our fellow Surghnor Street buddy Larry Furnace, we were great friends who frequently shot hoops together at the public housing outside court near Southwest Elementary. Here we dreamed of leading the Tigers to basketball greatness. Indeed, Jerry was probably Belton High's greatest long distance marksmen. He and fellow 1973 classmate Andy Rhoades were unstoppable once they got hot. I'm sure Jerry would have been a sensation in college had he not joined the Air Force to serve our country.

Alongside Jerry, his mom, older brother Lloyd, sister Anne, and other Locklin family members welcomed us to Belton in early autumn 1967. From then on they were treasured friends.

I was so fortunate to know Jerry and have him as a life-long friend. I just wish he was still here to shoot a few more baskets together in our old southwest Belton neighbor.
